I?m having a hard time picturing how our life would look today without the World Wide Web, even though I grew up in a world like that. Yet, it seems that good things are easy to get used to and whatever preceded them is easy to forget. I am not saying that it was a bad life before the Internet, but our options are much wider with it.

I am aware of all its negative sides and I understand the impacts it can have on certain aspects of our lives. Still, there is one thing that we definitely must agree on. And this might be hard to swallow, but today, everything depends on technology.

No matter how much we try to fight it, no matter how much this might annoy us at certain points, human beings have become accustomed to their internet-connected gadgets. A lot of areas of in our lives have become much easier to handle thanks to those. That is a fact we cannot deny.

Here?s another fact we can never deny. With the proliferation of technology, it was only a matter of time before business owners found a way to use it as a means of advertising. That?s a completely natural process. Any kind of a medium presents a chance of getting through to the consumers and raising awareness about a brand. And that?s how digital marketing came into existence. Useful.

What Is Digital Marketing?

In short, digital marketing is a way of promoting your products and services on the Internet. It is a complex concept, consisting of all kinds of techniques and constantly evolving and changing. Used all around the world, it has become one of the most popular ways of advertising.

Let me make one thing clear. This is not just some program you can buy, turn on and let it do the work for you. Nor is it so simple a concept that you can learn to do it in a few weeks. In fact, if you tried, I believe you would quickly get lost, drowned in all the types, tools and tricks. I?m not saying it cannot be mastered. I?m simply saying that it takes a lot of work.

Speaking of types, you should know that there are a couple of different ones that your business can benefit from. These include social media marketing, pay-per-click advertising, affiliate marketing and many more. Every one of those is responsible for doing their part in the promotion of your brand.

One type is responsible for driving over 90% of website traffic. It is called search engine optimization (SEO) and it is one of the most important digital marketing methods for your business. In other words, if you want to grow ? you have to SEO.

What Is Search Engine Optimization And Do I Need It?

Many business owners are not aware of, or familiar enough with, this concept. Others, however, believe that it is only suitable for already well-established brands and that it can?t do a lot when growth is in question. This is why I often get these two questions: ?Is SEO important for my small business? And how does it work exactly?? If you do proper research or consult an expert, you will find out why this concept should actually be the foundation of a small businesses? marketing strategy.

Now, let us learn the basics of the method and discover why it is the real deal for the growth of your company. I am not surprised that you might me suspicious at first. After all, any fairly new concept undergoes a certain amount of scrutiny before people decide whether it is an efficient tool, or a waste of time. However, SEO is no longer THAT new. It?s about time you get properly acquainted with it.

The Principle Of SEO

Basically, this is a marketing strategy that works towards making your company?s website rank high in search engine results. Think about it. When you search for something on Google, you type some words and check the first few results. Usually, the furthest you will go is the bottom of the first page.

That?s where you want your business to appear ? on the first page. I cannot think of a situation that would make me go to the next one. In fact, I am more inclined to typing different words in the browser when I don?t find what I need in the first couple of results. Everyone does it this way. And SEO helps you appear at the top.

Local Search And Conversion Rates

Are you aware of the importance of local searches for your small business? Local SEO is your go-to strategy for scoring visitors on your website. And can you guess why visitors are important? Well, for one thing, they can find out who you are, what you do and when they should contact you.

However, it goes a bit further than that. When people visit your website, there is a chance of them completing a conversion. Whether it is making a purchase, or filling out a specific form, it all has a significant impact on your company?s success.

People cannot buy anything from you if they don?t enter your store. The same goes for websites. If they don?t visit it, they won?t make any action. And inciting people to perform a certain action has always been the number one marketing principle.
