Real Estate Marketing 101: How to Get Clients in Real Estate

Ask just about any real estate agent and they’ll tell you that one of the most challenging aspects of their job is finding clients.

Finding clients is an ongoing battle for real estate agents, whether you’re brand new to the industry or are a seasoned veteran.

If this challenge resonates with you right now, we’ve got good news. There are a lot of strategies you can implement to draw in new buyers and sellers, many of which might be brand new to you.

Read on for some helpful tips on how to get clients in real estate.

Creating online content

Share High-Quality Online Content

When it comes to generating real estate leads, one of the most important things to do is to make sure you’re sharing high-quality online content.

Write regular blog posts that provide current and potential clients with helpful information on buying and selling a home. You can also share information on other, related topics like home decor or renovations.

The key is to make sure you’re addressing issues and answering questions that are relevant to your target audience.

Get involved and give back

Get Involved and Give Back

A great way to get yourself on more people’s radar is to get involved in your community.

Find ways to participate in charity events and network with others who are working them. You might even want to host your own event.

Remember, people love supporting local entrepreneurs.

If they know that you’re also someone who likes to give back to the community, they’ll be even more inclined to work with you in the future or recommend you to their friends or family.

High quality photography

Share High-Quality Photos and Videos

When you’re sharing photos and videos of homes on your website or blog, make sure they’re clear and of the highest quality.

People aren’t going to be interested in buying a home from you (or in hiring you to sell their home) if all the pictures you share are blurry or poorly lit.

At the very least, you need to invest in a good camera for taking these pictures in videos.

Ideally, though, you’d hire a professional photographer and/or videographer who knows how to capture and showcase all the best elements of a home.

Do your research

Do Your Research

Get to know the area in which you’re working.

People want to hire someone who is an expert in a particular area and can answer all their questions about school districts, noise levels, neighbors, and more.

Become an authority in your area so that you can answer these questions with ease.

Learn the history, learn about what sets the area apart, and learn about the average price of homes here. The more you know, the better.

Social media

Use Social Media

Make sure you’re making good use of social media.

Use platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter to promote your services and get to know folks who are looking to buy or sell a house.

Facebook groups are especially helpful for this, as they let you connect directly with people who are already interested in the services you offer.

Don’t forget to post on a regular basis, too. The more consistently you post, the more people will see your posts.

Group of prospects

Remember that Everyone is a Prospect

Keep in mind that everyone you meet is a potential client. Or, they might know someone who is a potential client.

You don’t want to become known as the person who’s always promoting their business, of course, but make sure you’re always on the lookout for people who could benefit from knowing a local real estate agent.

Make sure people know what they do and always have some business cards handy so you can give them one if they happen to show an interest.

Stay in Touch

Stay in Touch

Be sure to follow up with past clients and find out how they’re doing in their new home.

Let them know that you’re available if they have questions. Encourage them to reach out to you in the future, too, when they decide to move again or if they have friends or family members who are looking to buy or sell.

Open house living room

Hit Up Open Houses

Open houses are a great opportunity for real estate agents to meet potential clients.

It’s true that you’ll always find the occasional busybody at an open house who just wants to snoop around and see what a house is like. But, the majority of people who attend open houses are interested in buying a house.

If you’re there, ready to answer questions, people are going to be more inclined to work with you now or in the future.

Educational opportunities

Organize Educational Opportunities

Look for new ways to provide value to your community. One of the best options is to organize regular educational opportunities.

Maybe you can put together a workshop that helps teach first-time homebuyers about the process. Or, host an event to talk about real estate investing.

These kinds of events are great for helping you get in touch with people who are already interested in buying homes or properties.

Creating a website

Set Up a Website

If you’re part of a brokerage, you probably have a page on their website.

It’s important to have your own website, too, though. This helps you build a personal brand and target clients who are part of a specific demographic.

If you plan to expand your real estate business in the future, it’s also a good idea to learn more about building a website now.

That way, when the time comes, you’ll have an easier time setting up a site that helps you recruit the right people to your company.
